Our Services - helping the homeless
Clients spend up to 30 days in these emergency shelters. Clothing, personal hygiene items, telephone, counseling and referral to agencies are provided. As many as 6,500 shelter nights in a year are provided, 70% of them are for children. Find out how you can adopt a room at the center and make a difference.
In a year, nearly 7,000 clients will use these services. They include showers (the only public showers in south Pinellas), clothing, food, bus tokens and referrals to other agencies. Clients also use ASAP as a phone number and mailing address for employment and benefit purposes.
Our newly developed job training center is called "The HUB" (Hands United in Business). Dynamic partnerships between social services and local businesses provide employment training and support to unemployed and underemployed homeless individuals. It is the only program of its kind in Pinellas County. The HUB is a 4,600 square foot community resource that houses job and business training, classroom and meeting space, a children's media learning center, a computer learning center, and an on-site deli that will provide on-the-job training while generating income for the program.
